Hormone & Surgical Care Planning
More than a “Readiness Assessment.” Less gatekeeping and red tape, more support.
Hormone and Surgical Readiness Assessments & Care Planning
I offer hormone readiness assessments/care planning and surgical readiness assessments/care planning for trans, nonbinary, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse adults seeking top surgeries, gonadectomies, and hormone therapies.
These assessments aren't about proving anything or performing "trans enough." Instead, we explore together what gender affirming healthcare means for you, and how to make the process as positive as possible. I approach this work from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens that centres bodily autonomy and client expertise. Drawing from my background as a healthcare social worker and therapist, my goal is to create a corner of affirmation, support, and even emotional transformation within what can otherwise be a sterile, medicalized, gatekeeping system.
In addition to completing the necessary paperwork in line with WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) standards, I help clients navigate the steps to a surgery referral or hormone initiation, and plan for the best physical and emotional outcomes possible. This includes all paperwork, direct communication with your doctor and Trans Care BC as needed, and a practical plan for your emotional, physical, and community care as you go through the surgical and hormone-initiation process.
I hold space for the full complexity of being on a gender journey — ambivalence, joy, fear, the headaches of medical bureaucracy, insecurity, excitement, and even emotional transformation can all exist at the same time.
